Race Team
Starting out in 1996, Rob Cassar unleashed his Ballistic Drag Racing team after building his first 11.0 second, Z1000 MK11, 1979 Kawasaki Modified Bike.
Rob did not have a street licence and had never ridden a road bike but quickly got the hang of it and has been hooked ever since!
After a few years running an aspirated vehicle, Rob decided to experiment with Nitrous Oxide and raced his 1977 Z900 Lay Down for some 8 years travelling across the country.
Rob upgraded to a Kawasaki Funny Bike in 2007 and after many years of success including winning his first prestigious ANDRA Gold Christmas Tree at the Australian Nationals in 2016, he again upgraded in 2017 to his current bike, a ZX14 Kawasaki Pro Mod from the USA.
Since that time Rob has reset five ET records and six MPH records with his fastest time over 1/8th mile 4.53 @ 160mph and ¼ mile 7.008 @ 186.45mph. He won the 2022-2023 ADRC Top Fuel Bike Championship, the Australian Competition Bike Championship in 2019 and again in 2024-2025 season.
He continues to race in both Competition Bike and Top Fuel Bike.
The Ballistic team is primarily sponsored by Ballistic Performance Parts together with Lucas Oils Australia, Denso Autoparts Australia, Shinko Tyres and Powerplus Race Fuels. Other sponsors include Lectron Australia and Firecore Australia.
Rob is most often supported at the track by his wife Katie who assumes the role of Crew Chief as well as Head chef! However the broader drag racing family is such that there are always many friends and fellow racers that help out from time to time.
